I don’t care what they say, there isn’t a person alive who can’t be touched by a lovely bunch of fresh flowers, however, when you order flowers for someone you do have to be a bit careful – especially if they know a bit about flowers – because flowers do say different things.

Order Flowers to say “I’m Sorry” – yes, this is just about top of the list I reckon. You can be saying “I’m sorry I forgot our anniversary/birthday/special occasion”, or you could be saying “I’m sorry that we had a fight” or you could be saying “I’m sorry that I left you for another woman who was 20 years younger and 50 pounds lighter, please can I come back because she doesn’t make potroast like you do”. Whenever you order flowers to say I’m sorry, don’t kid yourselves, size matters, and a bunch grabbed on the gas station forecourt while you were filling up on the way home from work really just says “I’m sorry, and I forgot, and these were cheap”. Order flowers which are big, flash and expensive – trust me on this.

Order Flowers to say “I Love You” – oh, a bit of romance never did anybody any harm did it? Birthdays, Valentines, Anniversaries or just “because you want to” (they’re the best kind) – however, many people will become extremely suspicious, especially if it’s out of character for you to turn up with a bunch, so if you are after something like a weekend away with your mates or a season ticket for the baseball – time it very carefully, and wait until she’s finished putting the flowers in the vase of water before you make your move - make sure she’s well away from anything heavy.

Order Flowers to say “Get Well Soon” – what a fantastic way to cheer up a sick relative, friend or loved one by presenting them with a lovely bunch of flowers – works a treat. However, you need a word of warning here too, choose your flowers very carefully – example – white lilies are traditionally used at funerals so they’re not the best type of flowers to order (they might take offence), and red and white flowers together can be interpreted by some people as blood and bandages, also inappropriate in some situations.

Order Flowers Online – it’s even easier than picking up the telephone, you can simply order flowers online and have them delivered straight to loved ones across the miles. Unfortunately, this means that there is absolutely no excuse for forgetting Grannie’s birthday.

There are loads of different reasons why people order flowers. I know that all of these examples have been a little one-sided on the gender front, but men like fresh flowers too.

Some people, the “ever practical” type might see fresh flowers as a bit of a waste – they only last a few days, a week tops and then they’re gone, why not buy some plastic ones and enjoy them and polish them ever more, or a plant which can be transferred to the garden when you’re sick of watering it – wrong – these things do have their place, but there’s nothing like a lovely bunch of fresh flowers to bring a smile to many faces – nothing – get that? Right, I’m off to make dinner now, but I’ll leave this on screen for when my other half gets home – hint hint.
